What Clients Say

Hjh. Asiah binti Ramli

My late husband had named our eldest son on his EPF nomination years ago, but never updated it after our younger children were born. When he passed, I was very confused about what would happen to the savings. Zarina explained everything with patience and made sure the claim process was as smooth as it could be under the circumstances. I was never made to feel like just a file number.

I took up the Lifetime Retirement Plan three years ago after my brother recommended it. The initial plan took about six weeks and involved two meetings here in the office. Each year I come back for the review — it takes perhaps ninety minutes and we go through what has changed. Twice they have caught something I had forgotten to update. That alone has been worth the fee many times over.

Kangar, Perlis · January 2025
I came in because a colleague told me I should review my nomination before I retired. The process was much simpler than I expected — one meeting, they explained what I had signed years ago, and then sent me a written note summarising it all. The only thing I would suggest is that they mention earlier how long the written note will take; I was not sure when to expect it. But the advice itself was clear and reassuring.

My mother is seventy-two and does not speak much English. I brought her here worried that the legal process would be confusing for her. The firm handled everything in a way that made her comfortable — they spoke slowly, repeated things when needed, and made sure she understood the nomination form she was signing. I would not have trusted this to another office.

I had a difficult situation involving a pension entitlement dispute with my former employer's pension scheme. Before agreeing to take my matter, they sat with me for over an hour and honestly assessed the strengths and weaknesses of my position. They told me the case was manageable but would take time and gave me a realistic budget. That honesty was what convinced me to proceed, and the outcome was a fair settlement reached within seven months.

I was initially hesitant about the annual review arrangement — it felt like a commitment I might not keep. In practice, Nurul sends a gentle reminder once a year and leaves it entirely to me whether to book. I have not missed a year yet. The review itself is much more conversational than I expected — less like a legal meeting, more like a check-in with someone who knows your file well.
Case Studies
Three client journeys in more detail
Case Study · EPF Nomination Review
A widower's nomination — updating a twenty-year-old document
The Situation
A client in his late sixties had an EPF nomination dating from 1999. His first wife, then nominated, had passed away in 2011. He had since remarried and had two children from his second marriage, but the nomination remained unchanged. A family member suggested he review the document before his retirement in mid-2025.
What We Did
We reviewed the nomination, explained that his current wife and younger children were not named beneficiaries, and discussed the implications under both civil and personal law. A new nomination form was prepared, signed, and submitted to KWSP. We also prepared a short written note advising on whether a will was warranted given his family structure.
The Outcome
The revised nomination was in place within three weeks. The client retired in June 2025 with the confidence that his EPF savings would reach his family as intended. He later returned to instruct us on the Lifetime Retirement Plan, having found the initial experience straightforward.
"I had not thought about that nomination form in years. It took one afternoon to put everything right. I should have done it long before." — Client, Alor Setar, April 2025
Case Study · Pension Litigation Preparation
A public servant's disputed pension entitlement
The Situation
A retired civil servant had served for twenty-seven years but received a pension calculation that she believed did not account for three years of secondment. Correspondence with the relevant department over eight months produced no satisfactory response. Her pension was being paid at a lower rate than she considered accurate.
What We Did
We reviewed her service records and the relevant provisions of the Pensions Act 1980. Our assessment was that her position had merit. We prepared and filed an application for judicial review in the High Court, maintaining regular written updates throughout. We encouraged a structured negotiation process alongside the court proceedings, which the department eventually agreed to.
The Outcome
A settlement was reached after approximately seven months, with the department agreeing to recalculate the pension inclusive of the secondment period. Arrears were paid to the client. The matter concluded without a full hearing, keeping costs within the initial estimate range.
"They told me from the beginning it would take time and that nothing was certain. That honesty made the process bearable." — Client, Taiping, Perak, March 2025
Case Study · Lifetime Retirement Plan
A couple planning retirement across two EPF accounts and a will
The Situation
A husband and wife in their late fifties approached us together. Both were still working, had separate EPF accounts, and owned property jointly. Neither had a will. They wanted to understand how their retirement income would be structured and how their assets would reach their three adult children in an orderly way.
What We Did
We prepared a joint Lifetime Retirement Plan covering both EPF accounts, a will for each spouse, updated nominations, and a family communication guide addressing how the children would be informed of arrangements. The plan took six weeks, with three meetings. Both clients return annually for their review.
The Outcome
Five annual reviews later, the plan has been updated three times — once after the couple sold one property, once after a child married, and once when the husband's retirement date was brought forward. Both clients say the review visit has become a comfortable annual fixture in their calendar.
"We came in not knowing what questions to ask. We left with answers we had not known to look for." — Clients, Alor Setar, Kedah, February 2025
